Captain Obvious: CE Marc Elrich Says “Montgomery County Alone Will Not Be Able to Roll Back Climate Change”

Fresh from international travel to Taiwan that will yield “valuable results” (but no actual details or contract with a relocating company), County Executive Marc Elrich is back this spring with a “message” from his office.

I was struck by this particular quote in his long diatribe against oil / energy companies and the prosperity they’ve given people on planet earth:

We need more company on this journey. Montgomery County alone will not be able to roll back climate change. Strategies need to be implemented at the national level and efforts by the State and Federal governments are a welcome step in the right direction. As they would have said in my logic class, the steps are necessary, but not sufficient at this point.

As we begin Earth Month on Monday, I encourage everyone to get involved and discover what can be done to be carbon-neutral at home.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.  Montgomery County is 0.01375% of the globe’s population.

The notion that making MoCo more economically uncompetitive, more economically fragile and more dependent on battery components originally sourced or purchased from Communist China is going to somehow “change the climate” back to what Marc Elrich experienced in 1975 is utter incoherence.  Or perhaps it is all intentional obfuscation from his actual actions as CE?

CE Marc Elrich is so concerned about global climate change he… has taken international flights now twice in the last year to… “recruit” companies from Asia to invest in MoCo.  Let that sink in.  Marc Elrich is so concerned about global climate change, he has directly hopped on jets spewing tons of CO2 in order to fly halfway across the world to recruit companies he wants to bring to MoCo.

If these companies do somehow, someway decide to invest and build in MoCo, this will likely necessitate lots of back-and-forth jet travel by Taiwanese executives and presumably tons of CO2 emissions.  Moreover, think about this simple fact: instead of recruiting regional American firms to set up in MoCo… Marc Elrich, eco-warrior, feels is it necessary to release CO2 at an increased rate to bring “business” back to MoCo.  He can’t compete regionally, so he has to try and flail at international firms to bring back a few jobs.  He simultaneously promotes local economic impoverishment and regulations while trying to go “global” and bring in “chip manufacturers” for his green utopia.

Keep calm and carry on.  Mr. Elrich you can’t control the weather and your green, regressive schemes will continue to be exposed.
