MCPS Expands Resources So Your Child Can Learn To Tuck and Bind

Keywords:

The current controversy surrounding Montgomery County Public Schools has made national media.  If you have been living in the cave over the last couple days, the activists within MCPS, the BOE, and community have been organizing to counter and smear a large and growing objection to not permitting parents from opting out of curriculum or discussions that relate to LGBTQ+.  Most notable is a current county council member associating those of the Muslim faith with white supremist, along with a MCPS supported twitter account doxing the families (and therefore children) who are suing MCPS to restore this basic right.

If you want the full story do a quick google and a myriad of articles from national, state, and local media will provide you the details.

What is fascinating is that MCPS has stayed the course, building out additional resources for minors and their families to access.  Most notable is the “LGBTQ Handouts for Sharing”.

The document appears to be sponsored by MCPS but assembled by an organization called PFlag Metro DC.  This organization, using their own words,

Founded in 1983, Metro DC PFLAG, a non profit, non-partisan, volunteer organization, provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Promoting pride and ending discrimination is the goal of Metro DC PFLAG. Our family values stress education, understanding, acceptance, and support, but most of all love, thereby empowering our children — straight and gay — to lead happy and productive lives.

If you look through this handout for sharing, you will quickly come upon resources that will teach children how to tuck and bind.

A minor was also find a long listing of resources that will enable them to directly speak with, text, meet privately with, or chat with an adult.

And to make sure they counter those founding their objection to the teaching in public schools of such content based on their faith, they have a “religious” section.

You can review the full document here. And the complete listing of resources here.
